Welcomed by host families, students of 10th standard and their three teachers: Minoo Joshi, Ravinder Kaur and Jean-Baptiste Fauchille flew to Paris to live a unique experience for two weeks. And, our children have brought up the colours of MGIS and Ahmedabad! Hard workers, they have conducted workshops in various classes at the Lycée International, one of the best high school in France. They introduced Gandhiji and his philosophy of Ahimsa, through interactive activities and a short movie that they had prepared, to the French children from 6th to 11th standard.
A total success! Students, teachers and the director of the Lycée International were delighted to listen and participate in the activities with these young Indian students who came to share different aspect of their culture: rangoli, henna, tie & die, block print. Besides all this brilliant work done by the MGIS team, our 14 children were able to discover the French capital. They were so amazed by the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum and its art treasures, Versailles and the great castle of the French kings, the cathedral Notre-Dame and a boat ride on the Seine River.
Finally, during the great gala closing the trip, our children performed different Indian dances on stage: Bharatnatyam, Kathak and ‘Jai Ho’ with its one night stars Sakhi Ganeriwala & Vishal Pandit! Our honourable guest, Ms. Namrata Kumar, First Secretary at the Embassy of India in Paris, expressed her entire satisfaction and her desire to see this exchange taking place each year and to see it expanding in organizing an exchange of professors.
In July, it’s the turn of our French friends to come to visit us in Ahmedabad. Coming for two weeks, three students and a teacher of the Lycée International will introduce a project on microcredit. They will have the pleasure to discover our city and new aspects of Indian culture.
