Mahatma Gandhi International School is a registered member of the Cambridge International Primary Programme, and has been employing the framework (integrated with our curriculum) for the younger classes of the school.  We look at the Cambridge curriculum as a guide, to support us, along with our project mapping, through the Primary year program. Teachers find it useful to identify subject competencies and align them with learning objectives at different stages/ grades, in the following subjects: Mathematics, Sciences and English.
Cambridge offers us a platform to connect with other schools through their interschool meetings. They have organized seminars to keep us updated about the latest programs they are offering. We get an opportunity to hear different points of view through discussions with other educators. Our teachers are regularly sent for Professional Development for Primary Training workshops in all three subjects – Maths, English and Sciences. They have done online training of the CiSELT and CiPELT courses – to qualify to teach English as a second language in the Primary and Secondary years.
We have access to reading resources recommended by, and published by Cambridge. We also have, in our library as a teacher’s resource, Cambridge text books for different primary grades, in different subjects. Teaching materials use include:
• Teacher guides – these bring together schemes of work, sample lesson plans, planning and implementation guides
• Resource lists – these include resources endorsed by Cambridge, recommended by Cambridge and suggested by teachers
• Textbooks prepared by leading educational publishers.
