Students from IB DP Year 2 travelled to Zainabad for 2 days as part of their annual CAS project, Laal.

This project focuses on creating awareness about menstrual health and hygiene among adolescents and young women in rural Gujarat. Every year our students interact with students of
Zubedabegam high school as well as salt pan workers in Dasada, the little Rann of Kutch.
MGIS students planned fun games and activities to discuss menstruation, explain the scientific process, dispel myths and address questions.

Thanks to the proceeds from the annual Tara Concert, they were able to share biodegradable sanitary napkins with more than 100 students and lady salt pan workers to last more than 3 months.

The project enabled the adolescents and young women to open up a dialogue in a safe space about their experiences, doubts and questions about this otherwise taboo subject. The MGIS community is grateful to students, parents, grand-parents, teachers and well-wishers who attended the concert and participated indirectly to the success of the Laal project.
